Physical Education

Active for sustained periods of time.

Build positive relationships and characters.

Competence to perform skilfully and know when to do it.

Develop understanding of healthy active lifestyles.

We recognise the importance of Physical Education and the role it has to play in promoting long-term, healthy lifestyles and making a positive impact on physical, mental and social health. Throughout Key Stages 3 and 4 in Physical Education we intend to provide a curriculum that is broad, balanced, challenging and fosters a love of PE and physical activity. To aid this, in every lesson students will be active a minimum of 30 minutes. The intent of our Physical Education curriculum is to provide all students with high quality PE provision, not only as a participant but in leadership roles such as a coach or official. Our curriculum vision is for every child to develop a variety of motor skills across several different activities to allow them to successfully participate in these activities, demonstrating a competence to move and the knowledge of when to perform these skills. Through our teaching of PE, we will instill St John Fishers CARE values of commitment, aspiration, respect and excellence, as well as other transferable life skills such as resilience and compassion for others, allowing for students to build positive relationships with others.
